Though this is one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms in Japan, and he learnt under YUKI NAKAI, who happens to be one of the pioneers of Jiu-Jitsu in Japan. MAKOTO did not do well his early career. After spending hours and hours of time training on the mat, polishing his skills, he started to win in various major tournaments including the All Japan Championship. He overcame this difficult start.

In 2003, he became a student of TOSHIYUKI WADO (Leo Vieira’s black belt) and KUNIYOSHI HIRONAKA(UFC / DREAM Fighter/Cage Force & Professional Shoot World Champion). In 2006, as a brown belt he entered the World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Brazil which is also known as “The Mundial”, came in 3rd place and brought home the bronze medal. In the same year, his also competed in the Pan-American Championship and again achieved 3rd place.
With very little sports experience in his early age as a teenager, his achievement shows with dedication and determination, anything is possible.
Also, his teaching which emphasizes content and details of the technique, the movement are highly regarded as a instructor.

In late June 2008, MAKOTO moved to Hong Kong and in June 2009, established his own academy “HKJJ HONG KONG JIU-JITSU”. He is also a competitor, challenging in international competitions in the Asia region. In 2010 he became a champion of the Black belt Masters category in the Asian Championship Open-weight Division. And also a winner of the First China International Open Championship Open-weight Division.

In 2013 , Master & Senior(MASTERS) World Championship Master Black Belt Feather Weight 3rd place.

In these years, he also has started to visit various countries to make an seminar or as a referee at some international tournaments in Asia.

And in May 2016, He would establish new academy “MASTER JAPAN FUKUOKA” with his Senpai [KUNIYOSHI HIRONAKA] in Hakata, Fukuoka, Japan.

He is still a representative of “HONG KONG JIU-JITSU” and special instructor, presently the most noticed Jiu-Jitsu Master in Asia.

Ryan started Jiu-Jitsu career with the establishment of the HK Jiu-Jitsu in July 2009.

In a world of large and powerful opponents, his small physique did not deter his quick path to success, owing not only to his arduous training but also largely to his understanding of the fundamental concept of Jiu-Jitsu on its focus on flexibility, technique and movement.

He is an influential force, successfully acquiring various medals in the various tournaments he has participated including international tournaments.

His flexibility and speed in controlling his opponent is a sight you must see, it is the crystallization of his hard work and the simplicity and purity of the Hong Kong Jiu-Jitsu training methods. Makoto Aramaki approves Ryan’s abilities and holds great expectations for his career.

And He is RYT-200 holder of Yoga alliance. His teaching also has established a good reputation in Yoga.
